What is Absher?

Absher (meaning “good news” in Arabic) is the Ministry of Interior’s online platform. It provides access to:

• Iqama services — renewal, status check, photo update
• Traffic services — license renewal, fine check, vehicle registration
• Passport services — exit re-entry visa, final exit
• Family services — dependent management, family visa
• Hajj & Umrah — eligibility check, permit booking

Two versions:

Register Absher Account

Every expat needs an Absher account. Registration requires your iqama number, mobile number, and email.

Digital Visitor Identity

When your relatives visit Saudi on a family visit visa, they need a digital ID instead of carrying their passport everywhere. Absher generates a Digital Visitor Identity (هوية زائر الرقمية) for them.

Saudi Passports (Jawazat) now lets sponsors issue a Final Exit Visa for domestic workers (maids, drivers, nannies) electronically via Absher — no need to visit the passport office.

Update Your Renewed Passport on Absher

After renewing your Indian passport, the Saudi system still shows your old passport number. If you don’t update it on Absher, iqama-linked services — banking, Muqeem, travel, visa applications — will break because the passport number on file doesn’t match your new passport.

Aug 2026 update: Absher released a new step-by-step guide on how to update your renewed passport info. (Arabic, English, Urdu) — 57K, 37K, 47K views respectively.

How to update:

1. Log in to Absher Individuals (absher.sa or the app)
2. Go to My Services (خدماتي) → Passports (Jawazat)
3. Find “Update Passport” or “Update Renewed Passport”
4. Enter your new passport number and new passport expiry date
5. Confirm and submit

Why it matters:

• Banking — Muqeem checks will fail if the passport number is stale
• Travel — Absher Travel and airline systems rely on the passport number on file

Saudi Jawazat (Passport Authority) is rolling out digital solutions that facilitate the movement of travelers through international ports — automated e-gates at airports, pre-verified border crossings via Absher Travel, and digital passport/identity verification.
