Children Age 6+ Now Need Biometric Registration for Saudi Passport — Indian Parents Take Note

Saudi Jawazat has made biometric fingerprint registration mandatory for expatriate children. Many Indian parents are unaware of this requirement — and it can block iqama renewals, exit re-entry visas, and passport services for your child.

What is the age requirement?

There are TWO different biometric rules — don’t mix them up:

Rule 1: Biometrics at age 6+ (residents/dependents)

Why is biometric registration required?

Biometric registration must be done in person at a Jawazat office. It cannot be done through Absher or online.

3. Bring all required documents

5. Registration is confirmed immediately

What happens if you don’t register?

Without biometric registration:

Common mistakes Indian parents make

Mistake 1: Thinking it’s only for passport renewal

Biometric registration is needed for all passport and iqama services — not just renewal. If your child needs an exit visa for travel, biometrics must be registered first.

Mistake 2: Waiting until the last minute

If your child’s iqama is expiring and you haven’t registered biometrics, you cannot renew online. You must visit Jawazat in person, which takes time.

Mistake 3: Not registering for younger children

Even if your child is 6-9 years old, they need biometric registration. Don’t wait until they’re 10 — at 10+, biometrics become a hard requirement for passport issuance/renewal (Jawazat, Aug 2026).
