Android is one of the most popular mobile operating systems around. It is developed by Google, based on the Linux kernel and designed primarily for touch screen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. There are a number of reasons why you should buy an android device instead of an IPhone, which runs on iOS.
1- Customization, Widgets and Skins
Android devices let you change just about every aspect of your on-screen appearance – from the keyboard, to the home screen launcher, to your contacts app. You can have everything customized. You can choose from thousands of widgets that live on your home or lock screens and provide everything from music playback to weather and note taking. you can install your own launcher or add a custom theme, which makes your phone look and feel completely different — and uniquely yours.
2- Affordable price
Think. Think again. How much money do you really want to spend for a device that will fit your needs?
Android phones are definitely economical, although there are a wide range of price arrays which makes sure that there is an Android phone for everyone.
3- More Free Apps
There are plenty of free apps and games on Android than there are on iOS and other operating systems. Sometimes ports of the same apps that carried a price tag on iOS are free on Android. This is the real freedom. You can also install applications from third party sources if needed. This feature is very useful especially when you want to test you own apps and packages.
4- Memory Card
Many android phones offer a memory card slot which is not the case in IPhone. You can add more storage by simply inserting an SD card. At times, it is really handy to backup your device contents to SD card than retaining them in the phone internal storage.
5- Google Integration
Android is an open source project called AOSP (Android Open Source Project) that is led by Google but not owned by it. Google uses this to make its version of Android, which is then used by the other manufacturers. Android devices integrate seamlessly with Google’s array of services including Google Docs, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Maps, Google Music, Google+, Google Chrome…the list goes on, and Apple and iOS are not keeping up.
6- Installing Custom ROMs
You can actually replace the software that came with your device with a custom ROM if you want to. You can do it to upgrade to the latest version of the Android platform, for better performance or to gain access to some add-ons or tools. This is definitely the extremes of Android customization and you need to exercise a little caution to ensure that you don’t run into trouble. That said, as long as you can follow a tutorial and your device is supported, the benefits can be enormous.
7- Multitasking
Sure, IPhone can do all Multi-Tasking you want. But that doesn’t even come near to the level of multi-tasking some Android phones offer. Latest versions of android has Multi-Window feature. It allows you to display two apps on the screen simultaneously so you can do more than one thing at a time.
8- Removable Batteries
With an android device , you don’t need to replace your phone once it has aged and no longer holds charge well. With the help of removable batteries, you can easily swap them out for a spare without skipping a beat. This is definitely not the case in IPhone where you have no choice but to replace the phone once it stops charging well.
